The official name of this country is The Republic of Georgia (Sakartvelos Republika). It is known as “Gruzia” in Russian, “Sakartvelo” in Georgian and “Georgia/Géorge” in Western languages. The country is located in the south of the Great Caucasus Mountains; bordered by Russia in the north, Armenia and Turkey in the south, Azarbaijan in the east and southeast, and Black Sea in the west. It has federal governance and includes the Abkhazia Autonomous Republic, Ajara Autonomous Republic and South Ossetian Autonomous Region. Its total surface area is 69.700 sq km, the population is 5.500.000 and the capital is Tbilisi.
