Mr. Beglar (Abdurrahman) Kamashidze has been appointed as the new Mufti of Georgia. He took over the post from the former Mufti Mr. Cemal Paksadze. Mr. Rezo (Aziz) Mikeladze and Mr. Otar (İskender) Nadiradze have been also appointed to the Deputy Mufti positions. The new Mufti and his deputies are known for their efforts through some NGOs serving for the Muslim society in Georgia. Due to their high education levels, in-depth knowlegde on the problems of Georgian Muslims and effective relationships with Turkey, the new administration is expected to achieve its mission effectively.
Mr. Beglar (Abdurrahman) Kamashidze was born in Helveçauri, Batumi. Subsequent his graduation from Batumi State High School, he went to Turkey in 1995 and was enrolled in Faculty of Literature at 9 Eylül University in İzmir. He left the Faculty at his third year and was enrolled in Faculty of Theology in Georgia. Subsequent to his graduation from this faculty in 2001, he served as the Mufti of Helveçauri until 2014. Finally he has been appointed as the General Mufti of Georgia. He is married and has two children
